![]() A bookstore doesn't have to sell all books, for instance. But they really aren't relevant to this, because any company has the right to choose how it does business. But so is the fact the US government is a total mess right now. I'll object when they do something like this that ISN'T about hate speech or violent threats.īecause right now it IS about fucking Nazis.Įdit: Corporate power is completely separate conversation, and certainly one that needs to be had. At least you'll get to scream about Nazis, or whoever the next boogeymen are, while you're at it. But hey, have fun burning your rights and your country down over outdated legal technicalities. The boot stepping on you is still a boot stepping on you, whether it's being done in the name of the government or corporate profit. ![]() The problem here is overly powerful corporations with no accountability or oversight having unfettered ability to censor and suppress. There at least there is accountability and transparency. Hate speech laws and prohibitions of actual threats are fine. Doing that is exactly the same as burning books. I mean, there's nothing that makes hate speech different from other forms of speech, right? There's no reason we should have any restriction on people advocating the murder of others. Yes, the real Nazis are the people who hate Nazis. A company is well within its rights to not want anything to do with that. I'll get concerned when the groups companies decide they don't want anything to do with aren't either complete monsters or don't care if they mainly encourage and engage complete monsters. It's getting to the point you can't even organize a lynch mob at a family restaurant anymore! Oh yes, I'm so concerned right now at this kind of censorship we are seeing! Next thing you know, people loudly talking about how great Hitler was and how the Jews are garbage in a restaurant might be told they need leave! Terrible!
